On 23 February – 18 March, New Strategy Center, in partnership with the two Defense Committees of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, organized a course for new MPs and advisers from the above-mentioned commissions. The lecturers were representatives of institutions with responsibilities in the field of national security, as well as Romanian and foreign experts. The NSC thanks all participants for their involvement, as well as the two Commissions for their support.
There were addressed topics such as vulnerabilities to Romania’s national security, military and hybrid security challenges in the Black Sea and Balkans region, strategic EU autonomy and transatlantic cooperation, the Romanian Army’s endowment programs, aspects of industrial cooperation in the field of defense, the US perspective on security challenges in the Black Sea and Balkans region and new developments in the US foreign and security policy.
New Strategy Center started this project to highlight the value of dialog between public institutions and the non-governmental area of expertise, in the spirit of a non-partisan political approach. In this training course, the NSC has set out to contribute to the strengthening of the security culture and to the increase of expertise at the level of the specialized parliamentary committees, in order to better base decisions with implications in the field of national security, to the benefit of Romania’s interests and in accordance with the values of the Euro-atlantic area, to which our country is a party.
