International Conference on the Middle East and North Africa | Pheno-Mena

On 26 January, the academic conference “International Conference on the Middle East and North Africa | Pheno-Mena”, organized by the SETA Foundation, Turkey, took place, of which New Strategy Center was one of the partners.
NSC was represented by Amb. Doru Costea, Member of the NSC Scientific Council, who has made a presentation on “‘MENA in the Middle of a New Reality: A View from Not That Far”, in the panel entitled “Contradictions of Contemporary Political Thinking İn Handling the Middle East”.
Amb. Costea highlighted the strategic relevance of the Middle East, but also of the Black Sea region, through the perspective of the ongoing conflicts in the two regions. Two years of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and approximately four months of unprecedented violence and destruction, including civilian deaths in the Hamas-led war in Gaza, appear to be leading to a unique and much larger crisis. Also Amb. Doru Costea noted that regional security arrangements seem to require new thinking in the context of global interdependencies that defy traditional approaches that have been more or less successful in recent decades.

Together with Amb. Doru Costea, Prof. Murat Yesiltaș, Director of Foreign Policy, SETA and Prof. Murat Aslan, Senior Researcher, SETA were also present on the panel.

The panel is available HERE.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
