New Strategy Center and Curtea Veche Publishing are launching a key volume on the most acute questions about the present and the biggest issues of the future after COVID-19. ”The World of Tomorrow. What Next after the Pandemic?” („Lumea de mâine. Ce urmează după pandemie?”), coordinated by Olivia Toderean, Sergiu Celac and George Scutaru, is a collection of 37 essays signed by 43 experts, Romanians and foreigners, from essential fields such as geopolitics, economics, diplomacy, security and defence. The volume marks the celebration of five years since the founding of New Strategy Center.
A courageous book from several points of view, ”The World of Tomorrow. What Next after the Pandemic?” („Lumea de mâine. Ce urmează după pandemie?”), was written and edited in self-isolation. The period in which the collection of texts was compiled is essential, in order to maintain a balance between a lucid, fact-based prognosis and the assumed subjectivity, which brings multiple perspectives on the situation in which we are. As Wolfgang Ischinger, Germany’s former ambassador to the United States and chairman of the Munich Security Conference notes in the preface, “it is a testament of courage to be generally comprehensive on a topic of concern which is now still a ”moving target”. That is why the initiative is all the more valuable as it offers decision-makers different angles of approach, early warning and recommendations for political actions”.
