New Strategy Center meeting with Georgia Tech students from the USA

A group of students from Georgia Tech University, the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, in the United States, on a study visit to Europe met on Wednesday, 12 July with experts from the #NewStrategyCenter. The presentations were held by Major General (ret.) Paul Hurmuz and Mr. Marcel Foca, Senior Associate Experts at the New Strategy Center, and focused on developments in the security environment in the Black Sea region in the context of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, the importance of Romania as a pillar in the southern part of NATO’s Eastern Flank, as well as various aspects related to technological developments and emerging security challenges. Discussions also covered topics such as energy security, freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and connectivity, post-war security architecture.  The dialogue was a dynamic one, with students interested in learning more about the wider Black Sea region and its strategic relevance in the current security context, marked by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
