New Strategy Center publishes an analysis of the French legislative elections, which will be held in two rounds on June 30 and July 7, 2024.
The dissolution of the National Assembly and early elections represent a critical moment in French politics. Three major political blocs are vying for victory in the elections: the Rassemblement National (RN) led by J. Bardella, the Nouveau Front Populaire (NFP), which brings together left-wing parties, and President Emmanuel Macron’s Ensemble (EN), led by Prime Minister Gabriel Attal. The outcome of the elections will determine not only the composition of the National Assembly but also the direction of France’s domestic policies and international relations.
The electoral contest highlights deep-rooted ideological divides and strategic recalibrations in the political landscape, while also reflecting broad implications for France’s role in European and global affairs, especially in the light of the war in Ukraine.
