The Battle for the Black Sea is not over

The study „The Battle for the Black Sea is not over„, conducted by the New Strategy Center together with the Hudson Institute, USA, analyzes the security challenges in the Black Sea region in the context of the war in Ukraine, as well as possible scenarios for the evolution of the conflict. It also presents the actions taken by Russia after the illegal annexation of Crimea for the militarization of the peninsula and the hybrid actions carried out by Russia until the outbreak of the large-scale invasion on February 24, 2024. Blocking off perimeters under the pretext of naval exercises, electronic warfare actions, mines, cyber attacks, all represent tools of Russian hybrid warfare, aimed at affecting freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.

The authors of the study are George Scutaru, CEO of the New Strategy Center, Antonia Colibasanu, senior associate expert at the New Strategy Center, Matthew Boyse, Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute, and Mykhailo Samus, Director of the New Geopolitics Research Network, Ukraine.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
