Panel VIIIa. Post-War Challenges for EU Border Security

The panel was organized as a constructive dialogue between Ion Ioniță, Senior Editor at Adevărul and Editor-in-Chief of Historia and Defense Romania, and H.E. Daniella MISAIL-NICHITIN, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.

The discussions focused on the security challenges facing the EU’s borders and the threats currently affecting the Republic of Moldova. Among the topics addressed were hybrid threats such as disinformation, the ties between parts of the Moldovan political elite and Moscow, as well as election interference. In this context, the Russian interference campaign in Moldova’s elections was discussed, including the funds allocated for it and the actions undertaken. The discussion also covered Moldova’s efforts to manage the refugee situation following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as the policies implemented in pursuit of the country’s EU membership aspirations.
