Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, was the New Strategy Center guest at the online conference entitled “The Challenges of the Pandemic to the Democratic World”. Held on Wednesday, April 15, the event was moderated by Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, the Honorary President of the Scientific Council of the New Strategy Center and the director of the EU Satellite Center.
The debate highlighted the importance of strengthening the EU and NATO cohesion, this pandemic being one of the most important tests for the Euro-Atlantic community. For the European Union, this challenge can even mean its survival, and we note the necessity to increase its responsibilities so that the pan-European response to the next crisis, either in health, climate, or security, is much more efficient. The democratic world has the resources and the capacity to overcome the current crisis and that is why we must maintain our confidence.
