The next panel was moderated by H.E. Ambassador Doru Costea, a a Scientific Council of the New Strategy Center member and former ambassador of Romania to Kuwait, Oman, and Egypt. The discussion featured Mr. Yossi Mann, Head of the Israel and Arab Gulf Program at the Abba Eban Institute, Israel; Mr. Symeon Tsomokos, Founder and President of the Delphi Economic Forum, Greece; Ambassador Şafak Göktürk from the Centre for Economics and Foreign Policy Studies (EDAM), Turkey; and Mr. Mohamed el Orabi, President of the Egyptian Council on Foreign Affairs (ECFA) and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.
During the discussion, panelists had differing views on the situation in Gaza and resolving the conflict in the region. One perspective expressed was that the October 8, 2023, attack on Israel is perceived by Israelis as a holocaust, making a ceasefire or the acceptance of a Palestinian state impossible without a significant reduction in radicalization in Gaza. Another opinion highlighted the U.S. desire for Israel to end the war and accept a two-state solution to prevent further escalation in the region, influenced by Russia and China. It was also mentioned that one of the causes of radicalism is the lack of a solution for the Palestinians, who can no longer tolerate the status quo imposed by Israel. Additionally, recurring wars every few years do not provide a sustainable security solution for Israel and the entire region.
