Dilara KAKILLIOGLU, Head of the Research Department at the New Strategy Center in Romania, moderated the launch discussion of the Transatlantic Periscope project. The event featured the participation of Courtney FLYNN MARTINO, Deputy Director for Transatlantic Relations at the Bertelsmann Foundation in the United States (via videoconference), and Ileana ROTARU, Senior Associate Expert at the New Strategy Center and Professor at the West University of Timișoara, Romania.
The panel marked the launch of the Transatlantic Periscope project, a joint initiative by the Bertelsmann Foundation and the New Strategy Center. The platform brings together expert analysis, news, policy documents, and social media content, with the goal of enhancing understanding of the relationships between the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, while also combating disinformation. Participants emphasized Romania’s strategic importance within the Euro-Atlantic security architecture and the urgent need to restore public trust in credible sources of information in an environment increasingly shaped by information warfare. Transatlantic Periscope aims to become a secure and trusted digital space for the transatlantic community.
