The New Strategy Center organised on 8 November the conference “Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. Lessons learned for NATO. Possible evolutions on the battlefield in 2024”, with special guest LTG (ret.) Ben Hodges, Chair, Future Security & Defence Council – GLOBSEC, Member of the International Advisory Board of the New Strategy Center, former Commander of US Ground Forces Europe.
General Hodges highlighted lessons learned from the war in Ukraine, NATO and US support for Romania, Romania’s important role in the region.
Taking into account the specificity of the Black Sea, General Hodges advocated that Romania should pay more attention to the provision of drones, both airborne and especially naval.
In his opinion, Romania would be a good place for a centre of excellence dedicated to drones, especially in the current context generated by the war in Ukraine.
The dialogue was moderated by MG(ret.) Paul Hurmuz, senior associate expert at New Strategy Center.
