NSC Project: Course on Romania’s Energy Security

On Wednesday, March 24th, New Strategy Center, in partnership with the The Committee on Energy, Energy Infrastructure and mineral Resources of the Senate and the Committee for Industries and Services of the Chamber of Deputies, has started a course dedicated to the new parliamentarians and advisers from the above mentioned committees and the Committee for Economy, Industries and Services of the Senate. The lecturers will be representatives of institutions and companies with responsibilities in the energy field, independent experts, as well as foreign experts, and the course will run until the end of April.

New Strategy Center launched this project to emphasize the value of dialogue between public institutions and the area of non-governmental expertise, in the spirit of a non-partisan political approach. Therefore, we aim to increase expertise at the level of specialized parliamentary committees and to strengthening the security culture, in conditions of more diverse security challenges and threats on the international stage. We also consider the importance of energy security for Romania and the Black Sea and Balkans region and the implications of this domain on our country’s national security.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
