NSC video-conference: How Will NATO Respond to the Challenges of the Post Pandemic World?

New Strategy Center held an online debate on Thursday, June 25, entitled “How Will NATO Respond to the Challenges of the Post Pandemic World?”, in the context of last week’s meeting of defense ministers of the Alliance. NATO must show that it is ready to respond to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic in the health field, but also to continue to discourage hybrid threats and Russia’s aggressive behavior. NATO’s mission in this difficult period is to ensure that this health crisis does not turn into a security crisis, and that cohesion and solidarity with allies are vital. The NSC event was attended as speakers by Mrs. Simona Cojocaru, Secretary of State for Defense Policy of the Ministry of National Defense, General (r) Sir James Everard, former Deputy Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe and Lieutenant General (r)  Ben Hodges, Pershing Chair for Strategic Studies at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA), USA and former Commander of US Army Europe. The debate was moderated by Ambassador Doru Costea.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
