New Strategy Center organized on Wednesday, 11 September, a new event dedicated to the security challenges in the Black Sea region. On this occasion, experts from Ukraine and the USA were invited, including Mr. Mr. Mykhailo Samus, Deputy Director for international affairs, Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies, Kiev, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Viktor Hvozd, former Director of the Foreign Intelligence Agency, Ukraine, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Brian Keller, former Director for Military Support, National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, former EUCOM Director of Intelligence – USA, Vice Admiral (Ret.) Serhiy Hayduk, former Commander of the Naval Forces, Ukraine, Mr. Pavlo Lakiychuk, Head of the Security Programs, Centre for Global Studies ”Strategy XXI”, Kiev and Ms. Oksana Ishchuk, Head of Programs on International Information and Strategic Communications, Centre for Global Studies ”Strategy XXI”, Kiev.
At the same time, the participants benefited from the expertise of Ambassador Sergiu Celac, Ambassador Lazăr Comănescu, members of the Scientific Council of New Strategy Center, of Bg. Gen. (Ret.) Mircea Mîndrescu, Bg. Gen. (Ret.) Daniel Ioniță, Senior Associate Experts of New Strategy Center.
The debate focused on an assessment of the security situation of the Black Sea region and its possible evolution, from the perspective of both classic and emergent threats. This event is part of the series of conferences initiated by New Strategy Center and Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies from Kiev, which aims to reach a better acknowledgement of the security challenges in the Black Sea region.
