Balkan Think Tanks Convention

On Thursday, June 6, the fourth edition of the Balkan Think Tanks Convention took place, organized by SETA Foundation, Turkey, and New Strategy Center, with the support of West University of Timisoara and Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities.
The event was attended by representatives of leading Balkan think tanks, together with officials from Romania and Turkey.
Speakers addressed topics such as: the Balkans in a context of transformation transforming global geopolitics, main challenges to regional security and politics, EU enlargement, promoting cooperation in the Balkans.

The Balkan region faces a number of complex challenges, including economic problems, political instability and ethnic tensions.
The protracted process of EU accession may diminish popular support for the EU, thus slowing down the modernisation process.
The dialogue was a dynamic one, promoting cooperation between Balkan states and the need to support concrete projects to alleviate the region’s vulnerabilities, such as in the energy sector.
