„Black Sea Alert: Mapping the Challenges of the Region” at the Munich Leaders Meeting in Bucharest

New Strategy Center, in partnership with the Munich Security Conference (MSC), organized a debate on “Black Sea Alert: Mapping the Challenges of the Region” on 29 November, on the sidelines of the Munich Leaders Meeting in Bucharest, 28-29 November. This event takes place ahead of the Bucharest meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers.

The New Strategy Center debate brought together officials and experts from both NATO countries and Ukraine to discuss the strategic importance of the Black Sea in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The event also highlighted the main challenges to the security of the Allies and underlined the need for a comprehensive and united response to common threats such as energy security, food security, and freedom of navigation. The Munich Leaders Meetings format brings together an exclusive group of up to 75 high-level participants to discuss current foreign and security policy challenges, with a particular focus on a specific regional context. The meetings take place up to twice a year in different capitals around the world. This is the first time that the Munich Security Conference has organized such an event in South-East Europe, allowing for an open and interactive exchange between high-level decision-makers and senior experts from around the world.
