Book Launch: “The Geopolitical Rose”

New Strategy Center organized on Wednesday, May 17, the release of the book “Roza Geopolitică” (The Geopolitical Rose), written by geopolitical analyst and Italian publicist Mirko Mussetti. The event took place on the sidelines of the seventh edition of the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum conference. The book launch was hosted by the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV), a partner of New Strategy Center in organizing the security forum. Along with the Italian publicist who presented the main ideas of his book, certain special guests also had interventions, such as His Excellency Mr. Alfredo Maria Durante Mangoni, the Italian Ambassador to Romania, Simona Cojocaru, Secretary of State within the Ministry of National Defense Iulian Fota , State Secretary within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Răzvan Teodorescu, USAMV Pro-Rector, and Marius Iorgulescu, Director of the Military Publishing House.

In the opening of the event, George Scutaru, CEO of New Strategy Center, emphasized the fact that the publication of the book “Roza Geopolitică” is part of the constant effort of New Strategy Center to contribute to the growth of Romania’s security culture. The majority of the print run of this book will be donated to civilian universities, as well as the National Defense University and the academies of the Ministry of National Defense.

The guests highlighted the relevance of the paper’s theme and the need for geopolitical thinking in the current security context, characterized by a large-scale military conflict, in the very vicinity of Romania. Secretary of State Iulian Fota insisted on the importance of translating some “representative books for the geopolitical turmoil in the region”, including “Roza Geopolitică”. Likewise, the theoretical value of the book cannot be omitted, which complements previous efforts, bringing into discussion new aspects that characterize modern conflict, said Secretary of State Simona Cojocaru on the occasion of the book launch.

Last but not least, as noted by H.E. Ambassador Mangoni, this launch has a symbolic value for the special relationship between Romania and Italy, especially in terms of the European and Euro-Atlantic dimension of this relationship.
