The debate envisaged Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its impact on the Black Sea and Baltic regions, stressing the need to strengthen NATO’s Eastern Flank in order to have a firm and unitary attitude. The efforts that the two countries made, both at the ally and bilaterally level, to combat regional threats were also noted. The importance of the Strategic Compass, recently adopted by the EU Member States, and how it will strengthen the defense field at European level and the relationship with NATO, has also been an important topic for discussion.
