The War in Ukraine and its Consequences on the Eastern Flank. Acting as One

On April 7th, New Strategy Center and Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) organized the event „The War in Ukraine and its Consequences on the Eastern Flank. Acting as One”. The debate was moderated by MG (Ret.) Leonardo Dinu, member of the Scientific Council of the New Strategy Center, with the participation of LTG (Ret.) Ben Hodges, Pershing Chair for Strategic Studies, CEPA, US and CAPT (N) (Ret.) Steve Horrell, Senior Fellow at the Transatlantic Defense and Security Center for European Policy Analysis, US, as speakers. The conclusions of the discussion were presented by Lauren Speranza, Director, Transatlantic Defense and Security, CEPA, US.

Topics such as Russia’s actions in Ukraine and the impact of this invasion on NATO’s Eastern Flank were addressed, as well as allies’ efforts to counter this threat. Participants made an assessment of both Russia’s initial objectives at the beginning of the aggression in Ukraine and Moscow’s future course of action in the current context. It has also been considered how the North Atlantic Alliance can strengthen the Eastern Flank.

The conference is part of the series of events ”War in Ukraine. Russian Aggression on the Doorstep of the Eastern Flank of NATO” organized by the New Strategy Center on the subject of Russian aggression against Ukraine. We want to address several topics – economic, military and political – in order to better understand the effects of this war and how it will influence the security of the entire Eastern Flank of NATO and Europe. These events will be attended by speakers with extensive expertise in their fields of activity, both from Romania and abroad. The events will be livestreamed on the Facebook page of the new Strategy Center and the European path, the media partner of this project.
In a security context marked by multiple security challenges and an information environment in which many disinformation elements are identified, New Strategy Center promotes the importance of information provided by credible sources and promotes the need to build a security culture that increases the resilience of our society. This is why the NCS is organizing this series of debates, to provide a professional and coherent perspective on developments in the region.
