London School of Economics Ideas and New Strategy Center – London conference on the future of NATO

LSE Ideas and New Strategy Center held in London on Thursday, December 5th, the conference “NATO’s Next Ten Years”, immediately after the NATO summit. The event, which was supported by NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division, was attended by officials and experts from the states of the North Atlantic Alliance, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and specialized institutes in the capital of Great Britain.

The conference addressed topics such as the necessary transformations at NATO level to meet new challenges, the NATO narrative over the next 10 years, Russia’s strategic objectives, the impact of new technologies and arms control. A panel was specifically dedicated to security challenges in the Black Sea region.

Among the speakers who took part in this conference were Nicolae Ciucă, the Minister of National Defense, MG Iulian Berdilă, Headquarters Multinational Division South-East Commander, Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, the Director General of the EU Satellite Center, Ambassador Sergiu Celac, the Honorary President of New Strategy Center. On this occasion, the study “Focsani Gate – A Key Terrain for European Security” was presented, which was written by New Strategy Center and Centre for the Study of the New Generation Warfare in the USA.

This conference is part of the series of events organized by New Strategy Center outside Romania to promote the strategic importance of the Black Sea region and the need for a unitary approach from NATO for the entire Eastern Flank.
