NSC and SETA from Turkey – consultations on topics of strategic interest at expert level

Representatives of the NSC and the Foundation for Economic, Political and Social Research (SETA) from Turkey met online on Monday, February 1, 2021, to discuss issues of common interest in the fields of security and international relations. The security challenges in the Black Sea region, the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean, in North Africa and the Middle East were on the agenda of discussions between Romanian and Turkish experts. At the same time, the evolutions at the level of the European Union were discussed, the way in which the transatlantic relationship will develop, as well as the elements of continuity and novelty in the foreign and security policy of the USA as a result of the installation of a new administration.

New Strategy Center and SETA concluded a memorandum of cooperation in December 2020, which aims to organize events, consultations and develop analyzes on topics of common interest. The two think tanks in Bucharest and Ankara aim to contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership between Romania and Turkey and to a better understanding of each party’s perception of security challenges in areas of interest.
