NSC at Defence 24 Days, Warsaw

On May 7, New Strategy Center participated in Defence24 Days in Warsaw and organized, as a partner, a panel titled “From Gdańsk to Constanța: a Key Corridor for Military Mobility and Connectivity.”

Military mobility has gained particular relevance in the current geopolitical context shaped by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, which has required significant efforts to improve defense mobility. NATO member states in Europe are taking measures to accelerate efforts to build and modernize dual-use civil-military infrastructure, enhance its resilience, and remove regulatory obstacles, while also adapting procedures related to border crossings and the transit of troops and military equipment through the territory of allied states.

As a country located on the Eastern Flank of NATO and the EU, Romania’s interest lies in the rapid deployment of allied forces in order to strengthen the posture of defense and deterrence.

The discussion highlighted the importance of transport connectivity in Central Europe and the role of NATO transport infrastructure on the Eastern Flank in strengthening European security and protecting supply and transportation chains.

NSC was represented by Brigadier General (ret.) Eduard Simion, Senior Associate Expert. The panel also featured Simona Cojocaru, Director for Defence Policy at the Romanian Ministry of National Defence, alongside Kacper Płażyński, Member of the Polish Parliament, and Jakub Jakóbowski, Deputy Director of the Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW), Poland. The panel was moderated by Adam Eberhardt of the University of Warsaw.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
