On 19 May 2026, the New Strategy Center participated in the conference “Energy Security – Lessons from Ukraine”, organized by the German Federal Foreign Office. The event was dedicated to the lessons provided by Ukraine in the field of energy security and critical infrastructure protection, following more than four years of Russia’s war of aggression and systematic attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector.
The conference brought together experts from several countries, representatives of international institutions, industry, and civil society in a dialogue focused on strengthening European energy resilience. Ukraine’s experience demonstrated the importance of innovation, decentralized solutions, cooperation between authorities, operators, industry, and the defence sector, as well as rapid adaptation in the face of complex threats.

The discussions highlighted the relevance of protecting critical infrastructure through modern technologies, including drones, electronic warfare systems, and integrated operational mechanisms. For Europe, Ukraine’s lessons represent a key benchmark for developing more robust energy security policies, institutional preparedness, and coordinated crisis response.
The New Strategy Center will continue to support strategic dialogue on energy security, critical infrastructure resilience, and European cooperation in the face of hybrid threats.
