NSC at Ideas for Poland Forum 2025

The New Strategy Center participated on October 22 at the Ideas for Poland Forum 2025, organized by the Sobieski Institute in Warsaw. NSC was represented by Laurențiu Pachiu, Senior Associate Expert and Vice President of the Energy Policy Group, who took part as a speaker in the panel “The Three Seas – a Geopolitical Alternative.”

Considering that the Three Seas Initiative focuses on connectivity, digitalization, and energy, Laurențiu Pachiu highlighted Romania’s role in ensuring the region’s energy security, as starting in 2027 it will become the largest gas producer in the EU, through the exploitation of the Neptun Deep offshore field in the Black Sea.

The 3SI member states must cooperate and exchange best practices in protecting critical infrastructure, given Russia’s ongoing hybrid actions. Moreover, since the Three Seas Initiative is also about connectivity, the “2 Rail 2 Seas” project, which connects the ports of Gdansk and Constanța, can play a key role both in Ukraine’s reconstruction and in enhancing military mobility along the north-south axis between Poland and Romania.
