NSC at “Land Forces in Europe: the Changing Means of War”

The NSC was invited to participate in the Conference “Land Forces in Europe: the Changing Means of War”, held on February 20, 2025 in Warsaw.

The event was organised by the Center for the Study of Next Generation Warfare (USA) and the Academy of Land Forces (Poland).

On behalf of NSC, Major General (Retired) Paul Hurmuz was the moderator of the Working Session 1: Maneuver Warfare / Emerging Requirements for Armored Vehicles.

The conference was dedicated to the particularly important issue of the security of NATO’s eastern flank. In an era of dynamically changing threats and challenges facing countries bordering ongoing and potential conflict zones, the event provided a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience between military leaders, experts and defense industry representatives.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
