The New Strategy Center participated on Thursday, October 30, in the Strategic Security Forum organized by the National University of Defense “Carol I.”
George Scutaru, NSC’s Director General, took part as a speaker in the panel “European Security: Strategies and Perspectives.” He provided an assessment of the security situation in the Black Sea region in the context of the war in Ukraine and the ongoing peace negotiations, highlighting both traditional and hybrid challenges we are facing.
George Scutaru also analyzed the effects of the U.S. decision to reduce the number of troops stationed at the Mihail Kogălniceanu base, considering it a wrong signal from the United States, one that Russia might misinterpret as a sign of diminished American interest in the Black Sea region, potentially leading to an escalation of provocative actions by Moscow.
