New Strategy Center participated in the Carpathian Integration Initiative Summit, held on 18–19 September in Bukovel, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Ukraine.

Romania is participating in this new regional cooperation format initiated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, alongside seven other Central and Eastern European countries: Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, and Serbia. The initiative focuses on key areas such as security, energy, infrastructure, and connectivity. For Romania, this initiative provides an important framework for strengthening cross-border cooperation with Ukraine’s border regions, as well as with the regions in southern Ukraine, Romania being the closest country to this area, which has been severely affected by the war.

Romania’s involvement in this format is relevant both for bilateral relations and for Ukraine’s reconstruction process.

New Strategy Center was represented at the event by Ecaterina Dadiverina, Ukraine Projects Coordinator, who held discussions with representatives of the Ukrainian business community interested in cooperation with Romania, as well as with Serhii Derkach, First Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine responsible for transport and reconstruction; Nazarii Volianskyi, Director of the Kyiv Regional Development Agency; Ganna Tsymbolinets, Director of the Transcarpathian Regional Development Agency; Oleksii Grushko, Director of the Chernivtsi Regional Development Agency; and Tetyana Zbyrak, Director of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Development Agency.

She also met with several representatives of communities from the Chernivtsi and Transcarpathian regions, who expressed their interest in participating in the forum dedicated to Ukraine’s reconstruction, to be organized by New Strategy Center in Bucharest on 22–23 October at Romexpo, in partnership with the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
