NSC – CEPA Workshop in Bucharest

On 23 March, the New Strategy Center organised a workshop dedicated to the possible evolutions on the Ukrainian front and post-war security architecture. The event took place on the occasion of a study visit to Romania of a delegation from the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA), US, an important partner of the New Strategy Center, in the context of a broader research and documentation project, which includes discussions at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Bucharest and Warsaw.

On behalf of the New Strategy Center, the speakers were Major General (res.) Leonardo Dinu, Member of the NSC Scientific Council and Amb. Gheorghe Magheru, Member of the NSC Scientific Council, and on behalf of CEPA, Mrs. Catherine Sendak, former Director for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia in the Office of the Under Secretary for Defense Policy, U.S. Department of Defense, and Lieutenant General (ret.) Scott Kindsvater, former Deputy to the NATO Chief of Military Committee.

The NSC and CEPA have a long-standing partnership, the two think-tanks organising an event dedicated to the Black Sea security challenges at the Munich Security Conference and in September 2022 in Washington, the NSC and CEPA launched a study on the strategic importance of the Snake Island in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
