NSC in Brussels: “Black Sea Security Scenarios”

George Scutaru, CEO of the New Strategy Center, participated in Brussels, on 26 April, in the roundtable “Black Sea Security Scenarios”, organised by the European Union Institute for Security Studies – EUISS. Discussions focused on developments on the Ukrainian front and possible scenarios, on the multiple military and hybrid threats posed by Russia in the Black Sea region. The crucial role of the European Union in supporting Ukraine in these difficult times was also underlined.

On the occasion of his visit to Brussels, George Scutaru also met with H.E. Dan Neculăescu, Romania’s Ambassador to NATO, to discuss the organisation of the next NSC events at NATO HQ. This is part of a series of NSC efforts to help promote the strategic relevance of the Black Sea region and Romania’s security interests.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
