New Strategy Center participated on Monday, July 7, in Brussels, in a roundtable discussion with EU policy-making specialists and independent experts for a collective dialogue on launching the implementation of the new EU Strategy for the Black Sea region. The event was organized by the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS).
Experts from Kadir Has University in Istanbul, New Strategy Center, Sofia Security Forum, Ukrainian Prism, and the Centre for European Policy were invited to the discussions. Lieutenant General (ret.) Vasile Toader, member of the Scientific Council, represented NSC.
The main topics discussed focused on: the construction and operation of the maritime security hub in the Black Sea, possible requirements from EU member states and regional partners, aligning proposed actions with security guarantees for Ukraine, improving NATO-EU cooperation for implementing this strategy, and opportunities for Turkey’s involvement in achieving common objectives.
The aim of this roundtable was to generate and evaluate ideas that could be considered during the upcoming Foreign Affairs Council meetings in the following months.
