NSC &NUPI in Oslo: Debate dedicated to hybrid threats and how to combat them

New Strategy Center is organizing an informational visit to Oslo, Norway, on April 15-16, in partnership with the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs – NUPI.

The visit is part of the FLANKS 2 project – dealing with the challenge of political warfare in the context of the war in Ukraine, funded through the Romania-Norway Bilateral Relations Fund 2014-2021, which NSC is implementing in partnership with NUPI. The first event was a debate dedicated to hybrid threats and ways to address them. During the discussions, NSC and NUPI experts addressed the issue of hybrid threats in Romania and Norway, presenting the most recent research results published by the New Strategy Center, which can be consulted here.

Representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Directorate for Cyber Security, and the Euro-Atlantic Center for Resilience also joined the activity and participated in consultations with counterpart institutions in Norway. The day ended with a visit to the Romanian Embassy in Oslo, where the New Strategy Center delegation had the opportunity to discuss with H. E. Cristian Bădescu, the Romanian Ambassador to Norway.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
