New Strategy Center publishes an analysis on the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, scheduled for September 28, 2025.
The document examines the potential impact of these elections on internal stability, against the backdrop of a deeply polarized political landscape, marked by competition between pro-European forces and those backed by the Russian Federation.
In addition to a detailed assessment of the main political actors participating in the electoral race, the analysis also outlines several post-election scenarios regarding the formation of a parliamentary majority.
The research highlights the intensification of hybrid warfare activities attributed to pro-Kremlin actors, whose strategic objective is to expand Russian influence by shaping a parliamentary majority favorable to Moscow’s interests, isolating Moldova’s pro-European leader Maia Sandu, and obstructing the country’s path toward closer integration with the European Union.
It also presents the regional security risks associated with the possible formation of an anti-reformist, pro-Russian government.
The analysis was conducted by Ion Cristea, international relations expert at the New Strategy Center, under the editorial coordination of George Scutaru, CEO of the New Strategy Center.
