On Thursday, November 3rd, New Strategy Center participated at the “Energy and Security in the Black Sea Region” conference, organized by the Institute for Freedom and Democracy in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.

The conflict in Ukraine is affecting not only the Black Sea region, but also global stability and security on multiple levels. Energy crisis is a consequence of Russian aggression in Ukraine which is especially testing European States, vulnerable to dependence on Russian gas, oil and coal resources. Mrs. Izel Stănculescu-Selim, program director with the New Strategy Center, had an intervention on the strategic importance of the Black Sea and possible developments, in the context of the current security crisis.

The event, held at the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, approached energy security in the Black Sea region in a multidisciplinary manner, focusing on geopolitical and economic aspects through a European perspective. The panel also benefited from the presence of officials and Romanian and foreign experts and representatives of the European Parliament.

At its core, a luxury mechanical watch is a triumph of micro-engineering. Imagine a universe contained within a diameter of 30 to 40 millimeters. Hundreds of tiny components—gears, levers, springs, and jewels—coexist in a perfectly orchestrated ballet.

The mainspring stores energy, releasing it with controlled grace through the gear train, its rhythm governed by the hypnotic swing of the balance wheel. This "heart" of the watch, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour or more, is a miracle of physics and precision.
