European-American Security Dialog 2025: ”Future of War & Peace in the Black Sea Region”

The partnership between the Ministry of National Defense, the New Strategy Center, and the Center for the Study of the New Generation Warfare (USA) continued the “European-American Security Dialog” conference series between October 2–5. This year’s theme was “Future of War & Peace in the Black Sea Region.” The event reviewed and assessed the multiple security challenges in the Black Sea region, including those generated by the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

During the working sessions, participants analyzed topics related to the strategic context, the prospects for a peace agreement in Ukraine, threats specific to the Black Sea basin, Russia’s actions aimed at disrupting freedom of navigation, lessons learned for the land domain, NATO’s defense measures in the region, and cooperation among NATO member states bordering the Black Sea.

The “European-American Security Dialog” conference, now in its fifth edition in Romania (the first took place in 2019), promotes the exchange of views between representatives of NATO’s eastern flank states and institutions responsible for national security and defense. Similar events within this initiative have been held in recent years in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Sweden.
