The first panel titled “Two Years of War in Ukraine and its Impact on Security in the Black Sea Region. EU Integration and Resilience of the Republic of Moldova to Current Challenges” was chaired by Ambassador Sorin DUCARU, Honorary Chairman of the Scientific Council of the New Strategy Center and Director of the European Union Satellite Centre in Romania, and was joined by the following spakers: H.E. Dorin RECEAN, acting as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, and H.E. Denys SHMYHAL the Prime Minister of Ukraine, who expressed his message by video.
Discussions looked at the main challenges in the context of Russia’s large-scale invasion, such as disinformation, Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure or dependence on Russian gas, and the measures taken to deal with them. In the case of Moldova, these include energy diversification, building resilience, and the security partnership signed with the EU. In the case of Ukraine, priorities include building air defences, acquiring Patriot systems from allies, empowering Western sanctions against Russia and the country’s Euro-Atlantic path.
