We are navigating through an uncertain period for democracy, marked by a proliferation of information and media sources. This abundance, although seemingly beneficial at first glance, creates fertile ground for conspiracy theories and distrust, giving rise to the post-truth era. This year’s elections are particularly vulnerable to sabotage tools based on misinformation. Electoral infrastructure must be carefully protected, and external influence, especially that of the Russian Federation, must not be underestimated. Russia stands out as the greatest threat to the US elections. Through propaganda, manipulation, fake news, and online trolling, Russia aims to unsettle American voters and weaken Western support for Ukraine.
