NSC participation at the online event “Russia-Ukraine Dialogues: the impact of the conflict on Moldova”

NSC participated in the online event organised by the LSE Ideas think-tank: “Russia-Ukraine Dialogues: the impact of the conflict on Moldova”. The debate focused on Russia’s hybrid threats to the Republic of Moldova and the challenges the country faces in the context of the war in Ukraine.

Mr. George Scutaru, Director General NSC, participated as a speaker, together with Ms. Ana Revenco, Minister of Interior Affairs, Republic of Moldova and Mr. Iulian Groza, Executive Director, Institute for Policy and Reform, Republic of Moldova. Mr Scutaru highlighted, among other things, Romania’s help to Moldova to get rid of its energy dependence on Russia and the opportunity for Romania to cover the entire gas consumption of the Republic of Moldova from 2027, following the start of massive gas exploitation in the Black Sea. The way in which the Republic of Moldova is coping with the extensive hybrid war unleashed by Russia, with the support of the EU and the US, shows that Moscow’s malign influence can be stopped.

LSE Ideas is the security and foreign affairs think tank of the London School of Economics and one of the partners with which the New Strategy Center has a long-standing cooperation.
