Energy and Technology. The Impact of New Technologies on the Development of Energy Projects in the Black Sea and Balkans Region

The panel was chaired by Mr. Corneliu Bodea, Chairman of the Romanian Energy Center. Additionally, the discussion featured the following guests: Mr. Lóránt Antal, Chairman of the Energy Committee in the Romanian Senate; Mr. George Niculescu, Chairman of the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE); Mr. Mihai Brana, Managing Director of Honeywell Romania; Mr. Radu Brașoveanu, Digital Solutions Director of PPC Group Romania; and Mr. Ondrej Safar, Country Manager of the EVRYO Group, Romania.

Finding the optimal balance between the transition to green energy, decarbonization, and energy security represents a complex challenge that requires consistent investments. Romania has already demonstrated remarkable leadership in green energy through the Offshore Wind project, which exemplifies the country’s ambition and vision in this domain. Concurrently, the energy transition at the European Union level and achieving ambitious objectives set for 2030 necessitate a pragmatic approach. It is essential to consider the current needs of both industry and consumers by implementing specific programs to facilitate adaptation to a green economy. Otherwise, the EU risks losing ground to other countries, such as the USA, which adopt less restrictive carbon emissions policies, attracting significant corporations.
